Ms. Wheelchair Iowa 2013 - Tasha DeGroote
March 16, 2013 in Iowa City, Iowa - Tasha DeGroote was crowned Ms. Wheelchair Iowa 2013.
Tasha is from New Hartford, Iowa and will be the new spokesperson for people with disabilities. She is 24 and has Spina Bifida. But has not let her disability stop her from learning to compete in a number of activities.
"I like to play sports" - (which includes wheelchair basketball, track and field). Her platform for the year will be to inspire other people in wheelchairs to pursue sports.
Tasha will represent Iowa in the national Ms. Wheelchair America Pageant this July in Houston, Texas.

2012 Ms. Wheelchair Iowa - Jayde Henry
Jayde Henry, 30, from Des Moines was crowned Ms. Wheelchair Iowa 2012 on March 31st in Iowa City.
Paralyzed from the waist down since 6 months old, Jayde is leading a life full of achievements. Active in 4-H, she volunteers for Heart Connection Children's Cancer program from 1999 to 2001, Iowa State Fair Dorset Queen for 2 terms. Jayde has 2 degrees in General Business and Business Administration.
Jayde's philosophy: We can't help what happens to us; we can only accept, deal with it, and keep on going.
Jayde will represent Iowa in the 35th Ms. Wheelchair America Pageant the week of August 6th in Providence, Rhode Island.

2011 Ms. Wheelchair Iowa - Jennifer Wolff
Jennifer Wolff of Waverly, Iowa was crowned Ms. Wheelchair Iowa 2011 on Saturday, March 26, 2011 in Iowa City, Iowa.
Jennifer feels her new title is a great opportunity to further advocate for herself, and others. To educate the public that people with disabilities do have many abilities and strengths to enhance their lives.
Jennifer is 39, and has been using a wheelchair since 2003 when she had a spinal tumor due to an ependymoma, which left her paralyzed from T-10 level.
Jennifer is an Occupational Therapist, and a member of the Iowa Occupational Therapy Association. She primarily works with people who have upper extremity injuries, post stroke, some dementia and pre-driving skills.
Jennifer said, "Embrace, Educate and Empower"

2010 Ms. Wheelchair Iowa - Samantha Edwards
Samantha Edwards, 22, of Marshalltown, Iowa was crowned Ms. Wheelchair Iowa 2010 on Saturday, March 27th in Iowa City, Iowa.
Samantha has a AA degree from Marshalltown Community College and is currently working on her BA degree at Iowa State University, with a major in journalism and mass communication with a minor in sociology.
Samantha's platform is to create positive perceptions of people with disabilities in the media by talking about awareness regarding issues that affect people with disabilities but also other current events. She states, "You don't have to always talk about disability issues to be a positive influence."
Samantha will compete in August at the national Ms. Wheelchair America Pageant that will be held in Grand Rapids, Michigan the week of August 9-15, 2010.

2009 Ms. Wheelchair Iowa - Angie Plager
Angie Plager, 26, of Cambridge, Iowa was crowned Ms. Wheelchair Iowa 2009 on March 28, 2009 in Iowa City, Iowa. Angie uses a wheelchair after being involved in a car accident in 2003. She holds an Associates in Science Degree, Associates in Arts Degree, and Associates in Science in Business Administration Degree from DMACC in Ankeny, Iowa. And is currently the President of the Spinal Cord Injury Association of Iowa. With her new title she will go on to represent Iowa in the national Ms. Wheelchair America Pageant, to be held the week of August 24, 2009 in Rapid City, South Dakota.
